In the latest weather update, Severe Weather Team 2 is urging residents in metro Atlanta and northwest Georgia to stay weather aware as strong to severe storms are expected to move through the area. Meteorologist Brian Monahan warns that the risk for severe weather will increase as Tuesday evening approaches, with storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, hail, and even brief tornadoes.

According to Severe Weather Team 2, the storm risks are expected to begin as early as 7 PM in northwest Georgia, gradually moving towards metro Atlanta late at night, around midnight. The storms are predicted to exit the southeastern sections by 3-4 AM on Wednesday.

Of particular concern is the increasing tornado risk, with the potential for strong tornadoes embedded within a line of storms. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions and be prepared for unpredictable weather conditions.

The severe weather risk has now expanded to include much of metro Atlanta, meaning a larger area could be affected by potentially damaging wind gusts that have the ability to bring down trees and power lines. Additionally, there is a possibility of large hail, further emphasizing the need to stay vigilant during this weather event.
