In a weather-filled day, more than 130 storm reports were recorded on Friday, with the majority of them occurring in Kansas and Nebraska. As severe weather patterns shift towards eastern Colorado and Kansas on Saturday, residents brace themselves for the potential hazards of large hail, damaging winds, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes.

The western region of the United States, while experiencing record-breaking heat, can finally expect some relief as temperatures begin to gradually decrease. However, Florida continues to swelter under scorching conditions, with isolated areas facing heat indices ranging from 105 to 110 degrees. Some inland spots even have the potential to exceed 110 degrees, making it crucial for residents to take precautions against the extreme heat.

A broad disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico raises the possibility of future rain and increased cloud cover mid-week. Meanwhile, record-high temperatures persist across Florida, and there is a likelihood of new records being set through Monday.

The severe storms in the central region of the US are not only bringing threats of hail and strong winds but also bringing much-needed relief in terms of heavy rain. Over the weekend, Kansas and Missouri could potentially receive up to 3 inches of rain, greatly aiding areas within Kansas that are currently experiencing severe to moderate drought conditions.

However, the heavy rain also presents a concern for some areas. A flood watch has been issued for Missouri, which is expected to last until Sunday afternoon. This watch comes as isolated amounts of up to 7 inches of rain are possible, increasing the risk of flash flooding and exacerbating the already soaked ground.

Southeast Missouri, in particular, has seen double the normal rainfall for the last 30 days, and with the possibility of more heavy rain over the weekend, residents in these areas must remain vigilant and prepared for potentially hazardous conditions.

Friday's storm reports included wind gusts of up to 84 miles per hour in Kansas, while both Kansas and Nebraska experienced hail ranging in size from tennis balls to basketballs. These destructive weather events highlight the importance of staying alert and heeding warnings issued by local authorities.

As the country battles with both severe weather and record-breaking heat, it is crucial for individuals to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Stay updated with weather advisories, remain indoors when possible, and stay hydrated to combat the extreme heat.
