**Senator Cotton Calls for Investigation into Airman's Self-Immolation Outside Israeli Embassy**
Senator Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas, has raised concerns about how a U.S. Air Force member, Aaron Bushnell, was able to serve as an active duty member despite setting himself on fire as a protest outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. Bushnell's actions, which were in support of Hamas terrorists, have prompted Senator Cotton to question the Department of Defense (DOD) on the matter.
Bushnell, aged 25 and from Whitman, Massachusetts, livestreamed the incident on Twitch, where he stated his opposition to Israel's defense actions. Senator Cotton has requested the DOD to investigate how Bushnell went unnoticed, whether he had access to classified information, and if he displayed any extremist tendencies. The senator also seeks to determine if other military members have engaged in similar anti-Israeli actions, violating DOD policies on political activities.
Bushnell was a cyber defense operations specialist with the 531st Intelligence Support Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio. While the livestream of the tragic incident has been removed, the Air Force confirmed his death as a result of the self-immolation. U.S. Air Force Col. Celina Noyes extended sympathies to Bushnell's family and friends in a statement on Monday.
Senator Cotton has set a deadline of March 7 for the DOD to provide information on the incident, including any prior concerning behavior exhibited by Bushnell. Fox News Digital has reached out to the DOD for comment on this developing story.
