### Seattle Seahawks Trade for Defensive Tackle Roy Robertson-Harris from Jacksonville Jaguars
In a recent strategic acquisition, the Seattle Seahawks secured defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris in a significant trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sources informed ESPN that Seattle is parting with a 2026 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for Robertson-Harris.
At 31 years old, Robertson-Harris provides a much-needed boost to a Seahawks defense that has been grappling with injuries and subpar performance against the run in recent weeks. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 290 pounds, Robertson-Harris went undrafted out of UTEP in 2016 before spending five seasons with the Chicago Bears. He joined the Jaguars in 2021 and has accumulated 19 sacks and 26 tackles for loss over 106 career games. This season, he has already contributed two sacks and three tackles for loss over six games.
The Seahawks' defense has notably struggled, especially against the run, conceding the third-most rushing yards in the NFL during their current three-game losing streak. With several players sidelined, including rookie defensive tackle Byron Murphy II, Seattle's defensive lineup has been severely impacted. Although Murphy could return from his hamstring injury this week, the recent setback of losing top edge player, Uchenna Nwosu, to injured reserve dimmed hopes for an immediate defensive revival.
Adding Robertson-Harris comes on the heels of a three-year contract extension he signed with Jacksonville in February 2023, valued at $21.6 million with $14.4 million guaranteed. This contract extension keeps him signed through the 2026 season. Over his tenure with the Jaguars, Robertson-Harris has amassed 11.5 sacks, 123 tackles, and seven pass breakups. However, this season has seen a decline in his stats, with seven tackles and four quarterback hits, despite playing in every game and being on the field for 50% of the team's defensive snaps.
This transaction marks the second trade between Seattle and Jacksonville in the last month and a half. In late August, the Seahawks acquired outside linebacker Trevis Gipson from the Jaguars in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick. With these key trades, the Seahawks are clearly aiming to fortify their defensive roster amidst a challenging NFL season.
