**Lane Lambert Appointed New Head Coach of the Seattle Kraken**

The Seattle Kraken have found their new head coach in Lane Lambert, following an extensive search led by recently appointed general manager Jason Botterill. Lambert, previously associated with the Toronto Maple Leafs as an associate coach, brings a wealth of experience and a solid track record in the NHL.

Botterill, who began his tenure with the Kraken just a month ago, embarked on a detailed and patient process to identify the team's next leader. His thorough approach led him to Lambert, who has a history of success and a strategic vision that impressed the Kraken's management. Lambert steps in as the Kraken's third head coach in franchise history, reuniting with former players Chandler Stephenson, Andre Burakovsky, and Philipp Grubauer, all members of the 2018 Stanley Cup-winning Washington Capitals team.

"After conducting an extensive search, we're thrilled to announce Lane as our new head coach," said Botterill. "His strategy and vision for the team were standout attributes during the interview process. His role in the Capitals' Cup win and the Islanders' consecutive Eastern Conference finals appearances gives us full confidence in his ability to lead our team."

Lambert's previous stint as an NHL head coach was with the New York Islanders during the 2022-23 season. Managing a team that missed the playoffs before his arrival, Lambert guided the Islanders to a 42-31-9 record and a top wild-card spot in the competitive Eastern Conference. He was replaced midseason in 2023-24 but left behind a commendable record of 61-46-20.

Lambert's recent role saw him join the Toronto Maple Leafs under 2019 Stanley Cup-winning coach Craig Berube. Lambert had significant responsibilities and contributed to the Leafs' improved defensive performance, leading them to win the Atlantic Division with a franchise-history 108 points.

"I am incredibly excited to become the head coach of the Seattle Kraken," Lambert remarked. "Seattle is a fantastic sports town, and I've always been impressed by the energy of the fans. This team has a talented roster of young players ready to advance to the next level, supported by experienced veterans with strong leadership qualities. I can't wait to get started."

Lambert's NHL coaching career spans over a decade, including 11 seasons as Barry Trotz's top assistant with the Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals, and New York Islanders. His tenure with these teams saw consistent playoff appearances and notable success, including a Stanley Cup victory with the Capitals.

Lambert’s coaching abilities were further validated during a temporary stint as the Islanders' head coach while Trotz dealt with personal matters. His decisive and confident management impressed Lou Lamoriello, the Islanders' general manager, who praised Lambert's preparedness and decision-making skills.

Beyond his roles behind the bench, Lambert served as an associate coach for the Islanders while Kraken captain Jordan Eberle was part of the lineup. Their collaboration resulted in three consecutive postseason appearances, highlighting Lambert's capacity to lead and develop successful teams.

Reflecting on his playing career, Lambert was a power-forward selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1983 NHL Draft. Over six NHL seasons, Lambert amassed 124 points and 521 penalty minutes. His playing career also included significant contributions in the AHL, the German and Swiss leagues, and leading to a Calder Cup victory with the Adirondack Red Wings and an IHL title with the Houston Aeros.

As the new head coach, Lambert is expected to foster strong relationships, clear communication, and a collaborative environment, aligning with Botterill's vision for the Kraken. His extensive experience and proven track record position him as a capable leader, ready to guide the team to new heights.
