NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The search for missing college student Riley Strain, who disappeared during a fraternity trip in Nashville almost a week ago, continues to intensify. Strain, a 22-year-old University of Missouri student, was reported missing on March 9, a day after he was kicked out of Luke Bryan's Broadway bar.
In an effort to locate Strain, the Metro Nashville Police Department's Urban Search & Rescue team assembled on Thursday to search the brush line of the Cumberland River. Authorities revealed that Strain's phone last pinged in the vicinity between 9:55 p.m. and 10 p.m. on the night of his disappearance.
Members of the search team have utilized various resources, including climbing gear to rappel down to the river, drones, and sonar technology, all in hopes of finding any trace of Strain. "We try to utilize all resources available," explained MNPD Sgt. Bob Nielsen. "A lot of times we will utilize outside agencies that will assist us. Just because every case is different. You don't know the environment, the weather, the circumstances of the case itself - why they went missing."
Additionally, MNPD has been receiving CrimeStopper tips related to Strain's disappearance. However, these leads must be thoroughly vetted before any conclusions can be drawn. As of now, no significant evidence or belongings have been found along Strain's possible route. Sgt. Nielsen emphasized the importance of finding anything that may have been dropped along the way, such as a wallet or cellphone.
The search for Riley Strain, who remains missing, is ongoing. Metro Nashville PD has urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact them at 615-742-7463. Authorities continue to appeal to the public for their assistance in this matter.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
