In a heartfelt Instagram post on Monday, Sarah Ferguson, also known as Fergie, expressed her support for Kate Middleton as she embarks on her cancer treatment. The Duchess of York, who recently battled skin cancer herself, commended Middleton for speaking openly about her diagnosis, noting that it will raise awareness about the disease.
Fergie, 64, shared her thoughts and prayers for the Princess of Wales, stating, "I know she will be surrounded by the love of her family, and everyone is praying for the best outcome." Having faced her own health battles, Fergie emphasized the importance of providing Middleton with the time, space, and privacy to heal.
Fergie, who was previously married to Prince Andrew from 1986 to 1996, continues to be a familiar presence at royal family events. She received positive news earlier this month, learning that her own skin cancer had not spread. A friend of the royal told People magazine, "This is the best news she could have at this stage," adding that Fergie undergoes checkups every 12 weeks.
Meanwhile, Middleton, 42, recently revealed in a video announcement that she was diagnosed with cancer following a planned abdominal surgery in January. Currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy, she expressed her shock at the diagnosis and emphasized her commitment to managing the situation privately for the sake of her young family.
The couple, Prince William, 41, and Middleton, made the decision to share the news publicly after their children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, were on Easter break. Middleton described her husband as a "great source of comfort and reassurance" during this challenging time.
Unfortunately, Middleton's father-in-law, King Charles III, 75, is also battling cancer, as announced by Buckingham Palace in February. The palace stated that the King had commenced regular treatments and would need to postpone public duties. However, he will continue to handle state business and official paperwork as usual.
Royal insider Sally Bedell Smith revealed that Middleton and Charles had a private lunch the day before Middleton released her diagnosis video, highlighting their close connection and support for one another. In the midst of their personal challenges, Middleton, William, and their children have traveled to the Sandringham estate, anticipating the Easter holiday.
As the royal family faces their own battles, the outpouring of support from individuals like Fergie is a testament to the strength of their bond. By sharing their experiences, Middleton and Fergie aim to raise awareness and inspire others facing similar struggles in their own battles against cancer.
