### Torrential Rain Postpones Sao Paulo Grand Prix Qualifying to Sunday

Heavy rain coupled with thunder and lightning forced the postponement of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix qualifying round, initially scheduled for Saturday at 1500 local time. The FIA announced the rescheduling of the event to Sunday morning at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, with a final decision on the exact start time pending.

Qualifying was set to kick off the day's events, but the onset of heavy downpours quickly inundated the track, leaving pools of water and creating hazardous conditions. As a result, the FIA deemed the track unsafe for any racing activities.

"The decision was taken due to the lack of visibility caused by the level of rain we have experienced in the past few hours. There is a lot of standing water on parts of the circuit which renders conditions unsafe," the FIA said in a statement. They emphasized that the safety of drivers, team members, volunteers, officials, and spectators was their primary concern.

Drivers, including newcomer Lawson, could only watch from the safety of their garages as the rain lashed down on the Interlagos circuit. With weather forecasts indicating no let-up in conditions, the governing body had no option but to move the qualifying session to Sunday, preceding the main Grand Prix event.

The FIA is closely monitoring the weather conditions to determine the safest possible time to hold the session, ensuring that the competitors can race under optimal and secure conditions.
