**U.S. Consortium Completes Acquisition of Rangers Football Club**

A consortium led by the owners of the San Francisco 49ers and health care entrepreneur Andrew Cavenagh has successfully taken over Scottish football club Rangers, the club confirmed on Friday. The investment group now holds a 51% controlling stake in the club and has already invested £20 million ($27m) towards its future.

In an official statement, Rangers announced that their new leadership aims to enhance "on-pitch performance" and ensure "long-term financial sustainability." The 49ers Enterprises, which also owns Leeds United – a club that recently secured promotion to the English Premier League – is a key player in this consortium.

Andrew Cavenagh will assume the role of chairman, while Paraag Marathe, president of the 49ers Enterprises, has been appointed as vice chairman. Cavenagh emphasized the club’s objective to improve its performance and return to being a dominant force in football. "This club's history and traditions speak for themselves, but history doesn't win matches," Cavenagh stated. "Our focus is simple: elevate performance, deliver results and bring Rangers back to where it belongs – at the top."

Rangers, although historically successful with 55 league titles, have been outshone in recent years by their Glasgow archrivals Celtic, who equaled their title tally this year and have clinched 13 of the last 14 league titles. The new leadership hopes to change this trend and reclaim Rangers’ position at the summit of Scottish football.
