**Patriots QB Drake Maye Sidelined with Concussion in Victory Over Jets**

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — In a dramatic twist during Sunday's 25-22 triumph over the New York Jets, New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye was declared out for the remainder of the game due to a concussion. The injury occurred late in the first quarter as Maye capitalized on an 18-yard scramble. Upon sliding to end the run, he collided helmets with Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood during a tackle attempt.

Initially slow to rise, Maye remained on the field to complete the drive's remaining four plays, which extended into the second quarter. After a Patriots punt, Maye headed to the sideline, sat on the bench, and was subsequently taken to the medical tent for evaluation. He eventually walked to the locker room on his own.

Veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who started the season's first five games, stepped in for Maye and demonstrated poise under pressure. Brissett completed 15 of 24 passes for 132 yards, orchestrating the Patriots’ game-winning touchdown drive in the final moments of the fourth quarter.

"The mentality is always 'next man up,' regardless of the position," head coach Jerod Mayo said during a halftime interview with CBS. "We needed Jacoby to take us to the promised land."

Despite the injury, Maye showcased his scrambling skills earlier in the game, scoring a 17-yard touchdown in the first quarter that secured a 7-0 lead for the Patriots. Before his exit, he had rushed three times for 46 yards and completed 3-of-6 passes for 23 yards.

The Patriots initially listed Maye's return as questionable, but he ultimately did not return to the game. The team now looks ahead while monitoring the rookie's recovery.
