In a recent interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair Lara Trump emphasized the party's utmost focus on "protecting the vote" for the upcoming November elections. Following comments made by Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding potential challenges to restrictive voting measures, Trump expressed concerns about election integrity and emphasized the importance of ensuring that every vote counts.
During her appearance on "Sunday Morning Futures," Lara Trump outlined the three key pillars the RNC will be concentrating on: turning out the vote, protecting the vote, and raising money. However, she highlighted the protection of the vote as arguably the most crucial element. Trump referred to the doubts and questions surrounding the 2020 election, stating the need to prevent such occurrences from happening again.
Although there has been no widespread evidence of election fraud in the 2020 election, former President Donald Trump and his supporters claimed that the election was stolen from him. In response to these concerns, Lara Trump announced the establishment of an "election integrity division" within the RNC. This initiative will involve a nationwide network of volunteers, including poll watchers and trained poll workers, aimed at safeguarding the voting process.
Trump further disclosed that the RNC currently has 78 ongoing lawsuits in 23 different states, with the objective of enhancing voting accessibility while reducing the risk of fraudulent activities. Alongside this, she issued a stern warning to potential cheaters, highlighting the RNC's commitment to tracking down and prosecuting anyone involved in election fraud.
During the interview, Lara Trump emphasized that free, fair, and transparent elections are essential for all Americans, regardless of their political affiliation. She stressed the importance of inspiring voters to participate while ensuring their confidence in the legitimacy of the electoral process.
As the newly elected RNC co-chair, Lara Trump's emphasis on protecting the vote indicates a dedication to addressing concerns about election integrity. With the establishment of the election integrity division and multiple ongoing lawsuits, the party aims to protect the sanctity of the voting process, striving for a fair and transparent election in November.
