**Partial Reopening of Pinellas County Beaches and Barrier Islands**
PINELLAS COUNTY - Starting from 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, access to all Pinellas County beaches and barrier islands will be restricted solely to residents, business owners, or employees who possess a Barrier Island Re-Entry Permit. Authorities caution that not all buildings have undergone structural integrity inspections, advising individuals to re-enter at their own peril.
To enter the barrier islands, individuals must present their Barrier Island Re-Entry Permit or a photo ID, along with adequate evidence of residency or business involvement on the islands. Examples of such proof include relevant documentation or identification.
Those who venture onto the barrier islands should be aware that there is currently no power, and traffic signals are not operational. Drivers are urged to proceed with extreme caution and treat every intersection as a four-way stop to ensure safety.
In an effort to maintain public safety and safeguard property, additional law enforcement officers will patrol all mandatory evacuation areas, including the communities on the Pinellas County barrier islands. Deputies will reassess the situation and consider further openings on Sunday morning, providing updates on any modifications to the barrier island restrictions.
The announcement was made by Amanda Sinni at 3:39 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
