**Tigers and Guardians Game 5 Rescheduled Due to Weather Concerns**
The decisive Game 5 clash between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians in the AL Divisional Series will occur sooner than originally planned. Major League Baseball announced on Friday that Saturday's game has been rescheduled from its nighttime slot of 8:08 p.m. ET to an afternoon start of 1:08 p.m. ET. This change is in anticipation of severe weather expected in Cleveland later that evening.
Despite a forecast that predicts sunny conditions for most of Saturday, the National Weather Service has warned of a potential rainstorm rolling into the Cleveland area at night, followed shortly by thunderstorms beginning after 8 p.m. This shift in timing aims to avoid the disruptions that these weather conditions could cause.
The Guardians pushed the series to a fifth game with a nail-biting 5-4 victory over the Tigers on Thursday. The winner of Saturday's game will advance to face the New York Yankees in the AL Championship Series. The Yankees secured their spot by defeating the Kansas City Royals in Game 4.
Interestingly, the revised schedule might enhance viewership. Although the game will now compete with a busy slate of college football games, it avoids clashing with the high-profile prime-time college football matchup between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon.
As the ALCS picture will be solidified by the result of the Tigers-Guardians match, the National League side of the postseason is also taking shape. The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to host the San Diego Padres in another pivotal Game 5 on Friday, with the winner set to face the New York Mets in the NLCS.
