Renton Business Owner Found Dead in Mexico; Investigation Reveals Domestic Violence Crime
Renton, Washington - The Renton business owner who went missing in late February has been tragically found dead in Mexico. The authorities discovered the body of Reyna Hernandez, 54, in a local cemetery on the Tijuana Highway. Alongside this grim discovery, Hernandez's missing vehicle was also recovered in Mexico. Renton detectives, working in conjunction with Mexican authorities, have taken a 61-year-old Renton resident into custody in connection with the crime.
The Renton Police Department (RPD) received a missing person report for Reyna Hernandez on February 28. Hernandez had left her home on February 26 to run errands but never returned. Concerned friends reported her disappearance when she failed to return home, answer her phone, or show up to work at Reyna Hair Salon, the establishment she owned.
The breakthrough in the case came when Renton detectives were alerted to an unidentified body found in a local cemetery in Mexicali, Mexico. Mexican authorities were contacted, and with the information provided, they were able to identify the deceased as Reyna Hernandez.
Investigators are now working on confirming the time and manner of her death. Once these details are established, detectives will be able to determine where the homicide took place. Investigations Commander Chandler Swain expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, "This is the worst possible outcome, and our hearts go out to Reyna's family and friends."
Renton authorities are collaborating closely with Mexicali police and US Federal partners in unraveling the circumstances surrounding Hernandez's death. If it is determined that the homicide occurred within US jurisdiction, authorities will seek extradition of the suspect in order to face charges accordingly.
The loss of Reyna Hernandez has cast a pall over the community, leaving her loved ones and friends devastated. As the investigation progresses, law enforcement agencies are committed to holding the responsible party accountable for this tragic act of domestic violence.
