### Reds Snap Losing Streak with 6-4 Victory Over Cubs

CINCINNATI -- Elly De La Cruz’s standout performance led the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-4 win against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, halting a four-game skid.

Cincinnati wasted no time in asserting their dominance. In the first inning, Santiago Espinal drew a walk and De La Cruz capitalized by sending a fastball from Colin Rea into the right-center stands, giving the Reds an early 2-0 lead. De La Cruz continued to shine, adding a crucial two-run single in the fifth inning, extending the Reds' lead to 5-1.

Justin Turner and Carson Kelly provided the firepower for the Cubs. Turner’s solo homer in the ninth inning off the left-field foul pole kept the Cubs in contention, and Kelly, who entered the game due to a left oblique strain suffered by starting catcher Miguel Amaya, also homered. Despite these efforts, the Cubs' three-game winning streak came to an end.

Reds’ starter Andrew Abbott (4-0) demonstrated poise on the mound, allowing just one run over six innings. This performance was only marred by a solo homer from Turner, the first Abbott had allowed in his last 23 2/3 innings against 100 batters. Emilio Pagán closed the game, securing his 13th save out of 15 opportunities, by striking out Ian Happ and getting Kyle Tucker to fly out after Matt Shaw doubled in the ninth inning.

On the other side, Colin Rea (3-1) struggled, surrendering six runs in five innings, a stark contrast to his previous seven starts where he had only given up a total of 10 runs (nine earned).

Historically, Turner's homer was notable. At 40, he became the first Cubs player of that age to homer in a game since Gary Gaetti in 1999, joining the elite company of Ernie Banks, Davey Lopes, Walker Cooper, and Charlie Root.

The series will conclude on Sunday, with Cubs' right-hander Ben Brown (3-3, 5.44 ERA) facing off against Reds' lefty Nick Lodolo (4-4, 3.22 ERA).
