RALEIGH, N.C. - The New York Rangers' forward Filip Chytil was unable to participate in the team's morning skate on Saturday ahead of Game 4 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The absence was attributed to an "illness," according to the team. Head coach Peter Laviolette classified Chytil's availability for the game as a game-time decision.

Chytil, who recently made his return to the ice after a suspected concussion that sidelined him for six months, had been in high spirits following his first game back. However, he woke up on Saturday morning feeling unwell, prompting his absence from the morning skate.

Coach Laviolette declined to provide further details regarding the nature of Chytil's illness and whether it may be related to his recent concussion. If Chytil is unable to play, the 30-year-old forward Jonny Brodzinski might step in as his replacement.

During the morning skate, Brodzinski joined the fourth line alongside Jimmy Vesey and Barclay Goodrow, while the pre-Chytil third line, consisting of Will Cuylle, Alex Wennberg, and Kaapo Kakko, regrouped. Matt Rempe skated separately with the extras, indicating that he might be a healthy scratch for the second consecutive game.

The timing of Chytil's illness, just two days after his first game back, raises concerns about his health. The Rangers organization has consistently prioritized Chytil's well-being, and they will handle the situation accordingly.

Chytil, who received medical clearance on April 12, has actively participated in Rangers practice in recent weeks and had been eager to return to the game. Coach Laviolette made the decision to include Chytil in the lineup for Game 3, which resulted in a crucial 3-2 overtime win, giving the Rangers a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Meanwhile, leading scorer Mika Zibanejad has been in top form, notching an impressive 12 points with three goals and nine assists in seven playoff games. This performance has tied him for the second-highest point total in the NHL. Zibanejad's recent performances have displayed his offensive prowess, with four multi-point efforts in his last six games, tying him with Rod Gilbert for the third-highest point total in Rangers franchise history.

As the Rangers gear up for Game 4, the absence of Chytil hangs in the balance, and his health remains a top concern for the team. The organization will closely monitor his condition and make decisions accordingly to ensure his well-being.
