A solemn procession for fallen Burnsville police officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, both 27 years old, is currently taking place on Tuesday afternoon. The procession commenced at 2 p.m. at the medical examiner's office in Minnetonka and is en route to the funeral home in Jordan. The route of the procession goes eastbound on Highway 62 and then southbound on Highway 169 ending at Jordan. The tragic events occurred when Elmstrand and Ruge, along with paramedic Adam Finseth, were killed while responding to a domestic call in Burnsville on Sunday morning.

City officials in Burnsville have announced that monetary donations for the families of the fallen officers can be sent to the Law Enforcement Labor Services Benevolent Fund. Citizens who wish to make donations other than monetary support are encouraged to bring their contributions to Prince of Peace Church, located at 13801 Fairview Dr. in Burnsville. Donors are requested to mention "Burnsville Heroes" in the comment section of each donation for tracking purposes. Additional details on donations at the church can be found on their website.
