Prince Harry, 39, was thrilled to be reunited with members of Princess Diana's family at the Invictus Games celebrations. Despite being shunned by his father and brother, sources revealed that Harry warmly hugged his uncle, Earl Spencer, and aunt, Lady Jane Fellowes, during the event held on Wednesday.

The celebrations marked 10 years of the charity founded by the renegade royal. While King Charles and Prince William may have distanced themselves from Harry after the release of his bombshell memoir "Spare," Diana's family has been more than supportive. A source mentioned, "You can see how sweet they were together."

Although Charles did not meet Harry while he was in London, the source emphasized that Harry remains hopeful for a reunion, stating that family is important to him, regardless of which side they are on. In addition to his aunt and uncle, Harry's cousins Lara Spencer, Louis Spencer, and George McCorquodale were also seen attending the event at St Paul's Cathedral.

Following the service, Diana's family members joined Harry at a reception held in the Crypt at St Paul's. The event was attended by several senior working royals, including Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh. "Homeland" actor Damien Lewis was also present at the reception.

Earlier this week, Harry's representative revealed that Charles, who is currently battling cancer, was too busy to see his youngest son. Reports had suggested that Harry made bizarre requests ahead of meeting Charles, but sources denied these claims, calling them "rubbish."

Harry has been open about the impact of losing his mother at a young age. In his Netflix docuseries, "Heart of Invictus," he revealed the unraveling of his emotions after returning from his tour in Afghanistan in 2012. He expressed how the trauma of losing his mother at the age of 12 had never been discussed, leading to a suppression of emotions.

Despite moving to the US, Harry has remained close to his Spencer relatives. Diana's sisters, Lady Jane and Lady Sarah McCorquodale, were photographed alongside Charles, Camilla, William, and Kate Middleton at Prince Archie's christening in July 2019. During their visit to the UK following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Harry and Meghan Markle also spent time with his uncle and aunts at Althorp, Diana's childhood home.

At the Invictus event, Harry was also joined by his former army officer mentor, Mark Dyer, and a host of old friends. This marks Harry's first visit to the UK since February, when he briefly met with Charles following the monarch's cancer diagnosis. Harry and Meghan are set to embark on their own version of a state visit to Nigeria, landing in the African country on Friday.
