President Joe Biden, aged 81, underwent a routine physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Biden reassured reporters that "everything's squared away" and humorously mentioned that doctors believe he looks "too young." The White House confirmed that a written summary of the findings will be released later in the day, following the examination led by White House physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor.
A five-page memo from O'Connor last year confirmed that Biden is a "healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male" capable of fulfilling his presidential duties. During this recent exam, a small lesion on Biden's chest was removed for biopsy after a dermatology consultation. Additionally, Biden continues to take medication for cholesterol and remains asymptomatic for atrial fibrillation.
Critics, including former President Donald Trump and some Republicans, have raised concerns about Biden's age and fitness for office. However, Democrats and Biden himself have maintained that he is physically fit. Similarly, concerns have been raised about Trump's health and memory lapses, despite his similar age to Biden.
Biden's last routine physical occurred in February 2023, and his current check-up appears to have shown no significant changes in his health status. The president's minor medical issues, such as acid reflux, have been addressed by his physician. Overall, President Joe Biden has been declared healthy and fit to carry out his duties as the Commander-in-Chief.
