In an exciting night of basketball, Presbyterian and Vanderbilt secured their spots in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament. Wednesday night's games saw Presbyterian defeating Sacred Heart with a final score of 49-42, while Vanderbilt emerged victorious over Columbia with a score of 72-68.

Presbyterian's win against Sacred Heart in the first First Four game was marked by strong defense from both teams. Presbyterian shot 40% from the field but struggled to find success from beyond the key. However, their solid performance, led by junior guard Mara Neira with 14 points, was enough to hold off Sacred Heart's shooting struggles. Despite shooting just 25.4% from the field, Sacred Heart managed to keep the game close.

Playing in Columbia, South Carolina, as part of the Albany 1 Regional, Presbyterian has made history by securing their first-ever NCAA bid in program history. They will now face top-seeded South Carolina in the first round on Friday.

In the second First Four game, Vanderbilt emerged victorious against Columbia, ensuring their place in the tournament. The SEC team took a 36-26 lead into halftime, but Columbia fought back and narrowed the margin in the second half. However, Vanderbilt's Iyana Moore's impressive deep 3-pointer, along with Kitty Henderson's 20 points, helped secure the win for the Commodores.

With this victory, Vanderbilt becomes one of the seven SEC teams to secure a spot in the field of 64. They will face the Baylor Lady Bears, the fifth seed, in the Portland 3 Regional on Friday.

The NCAA Women's Tournament is heating up as more teams secure their places in the first round. The tournament features South Carolina, Iowa, Texas, and USC as the top-seeded teams in the bracket. With Thursday's remaining First Four games, including Auburn versus Arizona and Holy Cross versus UT Martin, the field of 64 will soon be complete.

The journey to be the last team standing on April 7 has begun, and the NCAA Women's Tournament promises thrilling matchups and intense competition. Basketball fans are eagerly watching as these teams battle it out on the court for a chance at glory.
