The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, spoke out about her harrowing experience.

A passionate Phillies fan and coping with Parkinson's disease, the woman initially came to Turner's defense on a social media post criticizing his performance. Little did she know, this seemingly harmless act of support would lead to a costly scam.

According to the victim, a person claiming to be Trea Turner reached out to her on Facebook, asking her to download Google Chat for further conversation. Initially skeptical, she engaged in the conversation, only to find herself caught up in a web of deceit.

As the correspondence continued, the imposter showered the woman with gratitude for defending Turner, going so far as to claim that her encouragement had resulted in a standing ovation. Bewildered and suspicious, she questioned the authenticity of the interaction. However, the imposter persisted, sharing personal photos of Turner, his wife, and children to further solidify their facade.

The scammer's persistence paid off and their communication became increasingly strange and personal. After weeks of persistent messaging, the imposter confessed to facing marital problems and sought financial assistance with various property-related matters to keep the issues under wraps. Prompted by the imposter's plea, the woman eventually agreed to help.

The victim admitted her momentary lapse in judgment, stating, "I was gullible, I believed him. I should've known better but, I just, I overlooked it." The mistaken trust led her to transfer a staggering $50,000 to different accounts and employ various methods of sending money, falling deeper into the scammer's trap.

Law enforcement authorities have been alerted about the incident, and an investigation is reportedly ongoing to track down the culprit. It serves as a stark reminder for individuals to remain vigilant when interacting with strangers online, especially when financial matters are involved.

As the Phillies fan grapples with the emotional and financial aftermath of this troubling incident, it is vital for communities to come together, offer support, and remain cautious of online scams targeting vulnerable individuals.
