The deal was finalized on Friday, and the Phillies wasted no time in optioning Kennedy to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Kennedy, 25 years old, was designated for assignment by the Tigers earlier this week after a brief stint with the team. In six games, he recorded 2 hits, including a home run, and drove in 4 runs. Prior to his call-up, Kennedy had been playing for Triple-A Toledo, where he amassed a batting average of .234 with 3 home runs and 14 RBIs in 39 games.

Known for his versatility, Kennedy has showcased his skills at various infield positions during his time with the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate. He made appearances at second base (22), third base (18), first base (one), and shortstop (one) for the Mud Hens.

Before joining the Tigers organization, Kennedy had a brief stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2022 to 2023, where he appeared in 46 games and recorded a .205 batting average with 2 home runs and 17 RBIs.

The acquisition of Buddy Kennedy provides the Phillies with additional infield depth and the opportunity to harness his potential at the Triple-A level. Kennedy's versatility and previous experience in the major leagues make him a valuable asset as the Phillies continue their push towards success.

Kennedy will now join the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate, Lehigh Valley, where he will look to make an impact and potentially earn a call-up to the big leagues in the near future. The Phillies will undoubtedly keep a close eye on Kennedy's performance in Triple-A as they evaluate their options for the remainder of the season.
