### Eagles' Offense Stumbles in 33-16 Loss to Buccaneers

TAMPA - The Philadelphia Eagles faced a tough challenge against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, marking their fifth encounter since the 2021 season. Quarterback Jalen Hurts struggled to find solutions against the Buccaneers' defense, particularly without key offensive players wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and right tackle Lane Johnson, who were ruled out due to injuries. This significant setback contributed to a disastrous first half, where the Eagles quickly fell behind by 24 points, ultimately losing the game 33-16 and dropping to a 2-2 record for the season.

The turmoil was evident as the Buccaneers' quarterback showcased a remarkable performance, completing 12 of his initial 13 passes for 138 yards, leading to an early 14-0 advantage. The Eagles momentarily had a defensive stop, only for Cooper DeJean to fumble a punt, resulting in another touchdown for the Buccaneers. The Eagles' offense struggled massively, failing to secure their first first down until just 6:40 remained in the first half. Up to that point, they had been outgained 255 to 0.

Jalen Hurts completed 7-of-15 passes for 49 yards and a single touchdown in the first half, improving slightly to finish 18-of-29 for 158 yards. Running back Saquon Barkley, leading the NFL in rushing coming into the game, had a quiet first half with 22 yards on 8 carries but sparked some life with a 59-yard run to start the second half, concluding with 84 yards on 10 carries. Tight end Dallas Goedert led the Eagles' receiving effort with 7 catches for 62 yards.

Despite a brief surge when Barkley's long run set up a touchdown, reducing the deficit to 24-14, the Eagles couldn't maintain the momentum. An additional scoring opportunity was thwarted when Hurts fumbled at Tampa's 19-yard line, his third lost fumble of the season. The Buccaneers capitalized, extending the lead and keeping the game out of reach.

A critical moment occurred when the Eagles' defense managed to hold the Buccaneers only for a punt return mishap to hand possession back, leading to yet another Tampa Bay touchdown. The Buccaneers executed efficiently, with the quarterback finding Trey Palmer for a 15-yard touchdown to cap a flawless drive.

Injuries plagued the Eagles, with Pro Bowl right tackle Lane Johnson sidelined due to a concussion, adding to the absence of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Their offensive struggles were mirrored on defense, where the Buccaneers exploited weaknesses, particularly in a mismanaged special teams play.

Despite the setbacks, the game offered glimmers of resilience, yet underscored the pressing need for the Eagles to address their injury-ridden lineup and refine their strategy if they hope to turn the season around.
