The Philadelphia Eagles encountered a string of injuries during their gameplay against the New Orleans Saints. In the second quarter, the team lost three crucial players due to various injuries. Right tackle Lane Johnson and right guard Mekhi Becton were both sidelined due to injuries, impacting the right side of the offensive line. Star receiver DeVonta Smith also suffered an apparent head injury after a collision with two Saints players, leading to concern among fans and teammates. Smith was evaluated for a possible concussion following the incident, as confirmed by the Eagles.

The Eagles were already facing challenges with star wide receiver A.J. Brown sidelined due to a hamstring injury, further exacerbating the team's offensive struggles. Amidst the mounting injuries, Darius Slay was also forced to leave the game in the fourth quarter after a collision with Saints offensive lineman Trevor Penning. Penning's aggressive play resulted in a penalty, while Kelee Ringo stepped in to replace Slay on the field.

The injury woes continued as Lane Johnson was ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a concussion being evaluated, prompting Fred Johnson to step in as his replacement. Additionally, Mekhi Becton sustained a finger injury with uncertainty surrounding his return to the game. Wide receiver Britain Covey joined the list of injured players after suffering a shoulder injury, further depleting the Eagles' offensive options. A.J. Brown's absence had already created opportunities for Covey, who had shown promise with an 11-yard catch earlier in the game. Tyler Steen took over the right guard position following Becton's injury, solidifying the reshuffled offensive line in a bid to navigate the challenging circumstances.
