The Philadelphia Eagles will be starting their home opener without their star wide receiver, A.J. Brown, who has been ruled out for Monday night's matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. The team returned to the United States after an exciting season opener in Brazil and is now preparing to take on their opponents at Lincoln Financial Field.

Brown's absence comes as a result of a hamstring injury that surfaced during Friday's practice session. Initially listed as questionable, it was determined that Brown would not be able to recover in time for the game. Head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed the setback, stating that Brown's hamstring tightened during practice.

In the Eagles' thrilling 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, Brown played a crucial role, recording five receptions for 119 yards and scoring a touchdown. His absence leaves a significant void in Philadelphia's receiving corps.

As a result, the spotlight will now shift to other formidable pass-catching options for the Eagles. DeVonta Smith, the rookie wide receiver, and Dallas Goedert, the talented tight end, are expected to play an even more crucial role in the passing game. Additionally, Jahan Dotson, the team's No. 3 receiver acquired from a trade with the Washington Commanders, could also see an increase in targets.

Coach Sirianni expressed his confidence in Dotson, acknowledging that the No. 3 receiver position often faces unfair judgment due to limited opportunities. Despite not recording a catch in the opener and being targeted only once, Dotson's smooth route-running skills and potential make him a viable option in the offense.

With A.J. Brown sidelined, the Philadelphia Eagles must rely on their depth and adapt their offensive game plan to compensate for his absence. The team will be hoping for a strong performance from their remaining receiving options as they aim to secure another victory to start their home campaign on a positive note.
