PGA TOUR members who didn't make the cut for the week's 500-point FedExCup event will once again have the chance to compete in the Additional Event called the ISCO Championship. This tournament, happening simultaneously with the Genesis Scottish Open, offers similar rewards and will be followed by the Barracuda Championship, which takes place opposite The Open Championship.
The ISCO Championship, held at the Champions Trace Course in Nicholasville, Kentucky, is welcoming 156 golfers, with about one-third of the field consisting of DP World Tour members. It is the sixth time that the tournament is being hosted at Keene Trace Golf Club.
Among the notable contenders at the ISCO Championship is Neal Shipley, who despite missing the cut in his previous event, has shown promising performances and is eager to prove himself. J.J. Spaun, currently 150th in the FedExCup standings, is also looking to make a comeback after a string of lackluster results. Another player to watch out for is Andrea Pavan, a two-time winner on the DP World Tour, who regained his status after a successful run on the Challenge Tour.
While the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open Championship are prestigious events, the opportunity to participate in the additional tournaments in the U.S. is crucial for players looking to secure a spot in the FedExCup Playoffs. With only four weeks of tournaments left before the field of 70 is determined, every chance to earn points counts.
The Keene Trace Golf Club's Champions Trace Course presents a challenging yet accommodating stage for the competitors. Scoring has typically ranged between a half-stroke on either side of 70 in previous editions, with last year's average sitting at 70.43. The course features bentgrass greens averaging 6,000 square feet, known for their speed of 11.5 feet on the Stimpmeter.
The champion at the ISCO Championship will not only earn 300 FedExCup points but also receive exemptions into The Sentry, THE PLAYERS Championship, and the PGA Championship for the year 2025, along with an extension of their membership exemption through 2026. However, if the champion is not a PGA TOUR member, their membership exemption will only be extended through 2025, and the 300 FedExCup points will not contribute to their membership total in 2024.
Additionally, the provision for top-10 exemptions has been modified. Non-members will not be eligible for these exemptions to enter the Barracuda Championship. However, DP World Tour members who finish in the top five at the ISCO Championship will gain entry to the Barracuda Championship through reserved spots for their circuit.
As the ISCO Championship gets underway, golf enthusiasts are eager to see how the players perform and seize this valuable opportunity to secure their positions in the FedExCup Playoffs. The action promises to be intense as the contenders strive to make their mark on the leaderboard and claim the coveted title of the ISCO Championship.
