In a surprising turn of events, Paraguayan Olympian and former SMU swimmer Luana Alonso has addressed the reports of her removal from the Olympic Village in Paris. The swimmer, who represented Paraguay in the Women's 100-meter Butterfly prelims on July 27, finished with a time of 1:03.09, falling short of qualifying for the semi-final. Following her race, Alonso took to Instagram to announce her retirement from swimming, expressing gratitude to her supporters and apologizing to her home country.

However, recent media reports have alleged that Alonso's time in the Olympic Village did not end with her retirement announcement. According to statements reportedly given by Larissa Schaerer, the head of Paraguay's Olympic Committee, Alonso was said to have "created an inappropriate atmosphere" within Team Paraguay. This allegation led to her supposed removal from the Olympic Village, where she reportedly chose not to spend the night.

Allegations made by several media outlets claim that Alonso was seen venturing out into Paris, with some even suggesting she visited Disneyland instead of remaining to support her teammates. These alleged actions are said to have upset Paraguay's Olympic Committee, further intensifying the controversy surrounding the swimmer.

Responding to these claims, Luana Alonso took to social media once again, posting an Instagram story of herself watching the sunrise while sipping a cup of coffee. Although the post did not directly address the allegations, it hinted at her readiness to move on from the situation and embrace the next chapter of her life.

In light of these developments, WFAA reached out to SMU for clarification on Alonso's swimming status with the Mustangs. The university confirmed that Alonso will not be competing for the team this year, adding another layer of uncertainty to her future in the sport.

While it remains unclear what exactly transpired at the Olympic Village to prompt the allegations against Alonso, the Paraguayan swimmer seems determined to put the ordeal behind her. As the Olympic Games continue to unfold in Paris, attention is now shifting toward the performance of other athletes, and Alonso prepares to embark on a new journey outside the world of competitive swimming.
