### Packers Look to Overcome Red Zone Woes Against Bears' Staunch Defense

The Green Bay Packers are set to face the Chicago Bears after their bye week, seeking to improve their dismal red zone efficiency. Through the first nine games of the 2024 season, the Packers have converted just 16 out of 34 red-zone trips into touchdowns, ranking them 29th out of 32 NFL teams. Coach Matt LaFleur and quarterback Jordan Love are preparing for the challenge against the Bears' top-ranked red zone defense.

The Bears have been formidable inside their 20-yard line, allowing only 10 touchdowns in 27 red-zone trips through 10 weeks. This defensive prowess has made the Bears one of only two teams, alongside the Los Angeles Chargers, to maintain a red zone touchdown conversion rate under 40% this season. Chicago's "bend but don't break" defense is a key reason opponents have attempted 24 field goals against them, fourth most in the league. Although the Bears rank 13th in yards allowed, they are seventh in points given up.

There’s no doubt that during their bye week, the Packers focused on dissecting their red zone struggles. According to LaFleur, penalties have been a significant issue, disrupting drives and making it difficult to overcome setbacks. Notably, the Packers led the NFL in red zone penalties during the initial nine weeks. Additionally, dropped passes have plagued the offense across the field.

One important aspect is Jordan Love’s health. Post-bye week, Love is expected to be fully fit, potentially enhancing his accuracy and ability to make plays off-schedule. Precision and timing are critical in the condensed space of the red zone, and a mobile quarterback can create crucial throwing windows. Last season, Love excelled in extending plays, aiding in red zone touchdowns, something the Packers aim to replicate.

While the Packers have been effective in reaching the red zone, converting those opportunities into touchdowns has been the main hurdle. Their season-long issue of settling for field goals rather than seven points has suppressed their true potential. Facing the Bears’ elite red zone defense will be a true test for Green Bay’s progression in this area. There's much at stake, and the Packers will need a significant improvement to secure a victory on Sunday.
