Fresh off his historic pommel horse performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA's Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik is ready to hit the ballroom! The announcement was made on Thursday's "Good Morning America," where Nedoroscik made a live appearance in the studio. This news marks the first official contestant reveal for the upcoming Season 33 of "Dancing With the Stars."
Expressing his excitement, the 25-year-old two-time Olympic bronze medalist stated, "I'm very excited. I'm hoping to bring some [gymnastics] moves... I want to have fun with it." Nedoroscik will also be making history as the show's first male gymnast contestant. In previous seasons, female gymnasts such as Suni Lee (Season 30), Simone Biles (Season 24), and Laurie Hernandez (Season 23) have graced the ballroom with their incredible skills.
While fans eagerly await the full cast reveal on September 4th, they have taken to social media to speculate on who else will join Nedoroscik on the dance floor this season. Names being thrown into the ring include NFL star Jason Kelce, former inmate Gypsy Rose Blanchard, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, "Vanderpump Rules" star Tom Sandoval, Victoria Beckham from the Spice Girls, and "Golden Bachelor" alum Gerry Turner. ABC, however, refrains from commenting on casting rumors ahead of the official reveal.
Returning for Season 33 are co-hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro. The judging panel will consist of Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. Val Chmerkovskiy, reigning champion amongst the pro dancers, clinched the coveted Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy last season with actress Xochitl Gomez. The duo surpassed other notable pairs, including Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach (second place), Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov (third place), Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev (fourth place), and Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber (fifth place).
Reflecting on his victory, Chmerkovskiy expressed, "It feels like the culmination of a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice. I'm just proud that this young lady, so early in her life, was able to prove to herself that when you put your mind to something, and you're willing to work really hard at it, you can accomplish anything." Gomez added her gratitude for the experience, highlighting the support and care she received throughout her journey.
Fans can mark their calendars for the highly anticipated Season 33 premiere of "Dancing With the Stars" on Tuesday, September 17th, airing on ABC and Disney+.
