### Three Charged in Connection to Singer Liam Payne's Tragic Death in Buenos Aires
Argentine authorities have charged three individuals concerning the tragic death of Liam Payne, former One Direction member, the public prosecutor's office announced on Thursday. Payne's untimely demise occurred after he fell from a third-floor balcony at a Buenos Aires hotel on October 16.
The official statement from prosecutor Andrés Madrea revealed that the ongoing investigation uncovered illicit activities involving three suspects. One individual, who had been with Payne daily during his stay, faces charges of abandonment of a person following his death. Additionally, a hotel employee stands accused of supplying Payne with cocaine on two occasions, while another individual is charged with supplying drugs to him twice on October 14. Both are charged with the supply and facilitation of narcotics.
Toxicology reports indicated that Payne ingested alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant within 72 hours prior to his death. Notably, the toxicology results revealed the presence of "pink cocaine," a recreational substance often containing MDMA, ketamine, and methamphetamine, although it infrequently contains actual cocaine and is colored with food dye.
Authorities confirmed that Payne's death resulted from "multiple trauma" and extensive internal and external hemorrhaging due to the fall. Forensic experts ruled out self-inflicted harm and any interference by others, suggesting that Payne's lack of reflexive posture during the fall implied he was likely in a state of semi or total unconsciousness.
The investigation involved comprehensive efforts to piece together the circumstances leading to Payne's death. This included testimonies from hotel staff, family, friends, medical professionals, biochemists, and psychiatrists. Prosecutors also scrutinized over 800 hours of security footage from both the hotel and surrounding areas, alongside detailed examinations of Payne's mobile phone.
Following the probe, Payne's body was released to his father, Geoff Payne, the previous weekend. Reports indicated that prior to his death, Payne exhibited destructive behavior. Hotel staff had called 911 after he “overindulged in drugs and alcohol” and caused significant damage to his room, expressing fear for his safety. Payne was found deceased just minutes after the emergency call was made.
