As Northern California enters its seventh consecutive day of triple-digit heat, relief is finally in sight for residents, according to the latest seven-day forecast. The cities of Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto are expected to set more temperature records, warns the KCRA 3 weather team. Saturday has been designated as an Alert Day due to the dangerous heat, which could lead to health issues. Alert Days are typically issued when safety becomes a concern due to extreme weather conditions. This Alert Day has been in effect since Tuesday and is expected to last through Sunday.

On Friday afternoon, downtown Sacramento experienced scorching temperatures, officially hitting 110 degrees – breaking the previous record of 108 degrees set in 2007, as confirmed by Meteorologist Heather Waldman.

Looking ahead to Saturday, the forecast predicts an even hotter day with temperatures reaching 111 degrees. With the record temperature for July 6 in Sacramento standing at 105 degrees, it is expected to be broken once again. Scorching temperatures are anticipated to climb to 94 degrees by 11 a.m. and peak at 110 degrees by 3 p.m. To avoid the extreme heat, meteorologist Kelly Curran advises people to complete any necessary outdoor activities as early as possible. While those seeking relief in the Sierra may find temperatures in the low 90s, the overall heatwave persists.

Sunday is also expected to remain hot, with a high temperature of 106 degrees in the Valley. However, next week will bring some respite as the intensity of the heat is anticipated to decrease. The region can expect highs in the low 100s for Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the heatwave is expected to conclude with a high temperature of 98 degrees. Looking towards the next weekend, temperatures are predicted to drop into the double digits.

As the heatwave continues, it is crucial for residents to take precautions and stay hydrated. Various resources are available to assist with managing the extreme temperatures, including cooling centers and public pools. It is important to stay informed and be aware of the differences between heat-related conditions such as sunburns, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Additionally, pet owners should take extra precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of their animals during hot summer temperatures.

With wildfires becoming an increasing threat in California, it is essential to be prepared and stay updated on current fire incidents. Resources such as Cal Fire's wildfire incidents tracker and Federal wildfire incidents tracker provide valuable information on ongoing incidents. Furthermore, residents are advised to prepare for power outages and stay informed with relevant updates from their utility providers.

Road closures may also occur due to various factors such as wildfires or accidents, so it is recommendable to stay informed by utilizing apps like Caltrans' QuickMap or checking the latest road conditions before embarking on any travel plans.

As the heatwave persists, it is crucial for residents to remain vigilant, stay informed, and take necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of themselves and their loved ones.
