The judgment, which was signed by Judge Engoron and posted to the court docket on Friday, comes a week after Trump, along with his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, were found liable for fraud in a civil case brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The judgment requires Trump to post approximately half a billion dollars to cover the $355 million he was ordered to pay, along with an additional $100 million in interest. Both of Trump's sons were also ordered to pay back gains of $4 million each that they received improperly due to the fraud. Furthermore, the judge has prohibited the Trumps from serving as officers of any business entity in New York for a specified number of years.
Despite the hefty sum and legal setbacks, Trump has vowed to appeal the judgment. Previously, he requested a 30-day delay on the judgment, citing the magnitude of the decision and wanting an orderly process. However, Judge Engoron rejected this request, stating it was not justified.
New York Attorney General Letitia James expressed her stance on the matter with a post on social media, saying, "Friday feeling: No one is above the law." The Trump Organization has yet to comment on who will lead the company amidst these legal challenges, as Trump remains active in campaigning for the Republican nomination for the presidency.
