A new TikTok trend circulating the platform has caught the attention of air travelers with a unique idea for comfort on flights. The trend involves passengers utilizing their seat belts in an unconventional way by wrapping the strap around their shins and ankles, instead of fastening it around their waist, to keep their feet elevated on the seat. The trend has gained popularity, with videos garnering millions of views and mixed reactions in the comments section.

One TikTok user expressed gratitude towards the trend, claiming it transformed their flying experience, while others, including flight attendants, have raised safety concerns. Despite some finding the method innovative and comfortable, professionals in the airline industry have cautioned against it, emphasizing the potential risks during turbulence or rough air.

Notable TikTok creator and solo traveler, Taylor Futch, tested the trend on a flight in Europe and shared her experience online. Futch clarified that she only tried the trend briefly and at a safe altitude to change positions, acknowledging that while it may prevent feet from sliding, it might not be sustainable for extended periods of time.

Travel expert, Michael Wallace, from Greenback Expat Tax Service, highlighted the importance of safety over comfort in air travel. While passengers are always seeking ways to enhance their flying experience, Wallace stressed that this particular trend should be approached with caution due to the potential dangers it poses.

As the trend continues to circulate on social media, it serves as a reminder to prioritize safety and adhere to recommended airplane safety practices during flights.
