### Subtropical Storm Patty Forms North of the Azores
In the north Atlantic, an area of disturbed weather has evolved into a subtropical storm, now named Patty. This marks the 16th named storm of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season.
According to the National Hurricane Center, as of 6 AM CT on Saturday, Patty boasted sustained winds of 50 mph and was positioned about 400 miles west/northwest of the Azores. The storm is anticipated to weaken gradually by Sunday. Despite this, the Azores could still experience tropical storm-force winds and rainfall over the weekend.
Meanwhile, closer to the mainland, meteorologists are monitoring two additional regions for potential tropical developments. The primary focus is on an area in the Caribbean that displays a high probability of developing into a tropical depression within the next few days. Models generally agree that this system will enter the Gulf, but its subsequent path remains uncertain.
Should the system veer north after entering the Gulf, it would encounter cooler water temperatures and several cold fronts, which could dissipate the storm, leaving only rainfall in its wake. However, this scenario remains speculative and forecasts are subject to change.
For accurate and timely updates, staying informed through regular checks is essential over the coming days.
