New Jersey residents are facing another round of treacherous weather conditions as flood watches persist and high winds are expected to hit the state. Heavy rains have already led to the postponement of two St. Patrick's Day parades in Keyport and the Highlands, which have been rescheduled for September.

The National Weather Service has updated their wind advisory to include the entire state, rather than just isolated gusts along the coast. Meteorologists predict that as much as three to four inches of rain could soak areas of New Jersey over the weekend, with most regions receiving at least one to two inches of rainfall.

While the highest rain totals are anticipated along the western side of the I-95 corridor up to the northeastern corner of the state, forecasters warn that coastal areas and urban streams could also experience flooding due to tidal flows. Furthermore, areas along the Delaware River and in Essex, Passaic, and Bergen counties are expected to see the highest rain totals, increasing the risk of flooding in urban streams and rivers.

The deluge is expected to continue into Sunday in some areas, particularly in the northeastern corner of New Jersey, including Bergen, Passaic, Hudson, and Union counties. The National Weather Service has also projected wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph, further complicating the already hazardous conditions.

Flood watches remain in effect for most of the state, and forecasters caution that certain flood-prone areas could experience delayed crests as storm waters pour into streams and rivers. The combination of heavy rain and high winds increases the probability of power outages due to fallen trees, according to the National Weather Service.

Although only a few power outages have been reported across the state so far, residents are advised to exercise caution and stay updated with the latest weather alerts. The hazardous conditions are expected to persist until Sunday morning, with wind advisory in place from 4 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to remain mild throughout the duration of the storm. While winds are forecasted to blow between 20 and 30 mph, gusts could reach as high as 40 to 50 mph.

As New Jersey prepares for the severe weather, residents are encouraged to stay safe and take necessary precautions.
