In a turn of events, the Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) revealed that the Dutch national team's travel to Dortmund for the European Championship semifinal against England was unexpectedly disrupted. The team had to abandon their plans to travel by train, which led to a delayed arrival at their hotel.

According to the KNVB, the train service was canceled due to a blockage on the route, forcing the team to reassess their travel arrangements. Originally scheduled to depart at 1600 local time, the Dutch team had to change plans and opted to fly from their base in Wolfsburg to Dortmund.

Due to the unexpected delay, the pre-match press conference with coach Ronald Koeman had to be canceled. UEFA also announced that there would be no press conference and instead, footage from an interview with the head coach would be made available on the UEFA media channel later.

Despite the disruption, the Netherlands had already completed their preparations earlier in Wolfsburg and did not plan to have a training session at the stadium in Dortmund. While teams are entitled to a training session at the venue on the eve of the match, it seems the Dutch decided not to avail themselves of this option.

England's manager, Gareth Southgate, expressed that he did not expect the travel disruption to have any impact on the game. With plenty of time before their 9 PM kickoff, Southgate believed that the Dutch team would have ample opportunity to regroup and still enjoy their dinner.

Interestingly, this is not the first time the Dutch team has encountered travel issues during the European Championship. Previously, when they traveled by train to their group stage match against Austria in Berlin, they were forced to take a flight back to Wolfsburg due to limited train services.

As the Dutch team prepares for their crucial semifinal clash against England, it remains to be seen how the disrupted travel plans will affect their performance on the pitch. However, both sides will undoubtedly be focused on giving their best during the highly anticipated match.
