NBCUniversal Adopts Privacy Measures to Customize Online Experience

In an effort to enhance users' online experience, NBCUniversal has announced new measures to provide more relevant content and advertisements. The media conglomerate's online ad partners will now have the ability to combine personal information with data from different businesses to better target online advertising.

The move is in line with NBCUniversal's Privacy Policy, which emphasizes the importance of user privacy and data protection. However, this practice of combining personal information for targeted online advertising purposes may be considered "selling" or "sharing/processing" under applicable law.

For residents of certain states listed in the 'Your Rights' section of NBCUniversal's Privacy Policy, the option to opt out of the selling or sharing/processing of personal information is available. Users can toggle off the option for the processing of information such as cookies and device identifiers for targeted ads by moving the toggle to the left and clicking "Confirm My Choice."

It is important to note that this choice is specific to the brand's website or app on the browser or device where the election is made. For users not residing in the states listed in the 'Your Rights' section, this option does not apply. If this option is turned off, users may still see ads, but they may be less relevant or based solely on NBCUniversal's first-party information about the user.

To further protect user privacy, NBCUniversal also offers the opportunity to opt out of the use of personal information, including email addresses, for targeted advertising activities. An Opt-Out Form is provided for users to complete and manage their preferences accordingly.

Users are advised to refer to NBCUniversal's Cookie Notice for additional information, which can be accessed by navigating to the Privacy Policy in the menu settings page.

It is worth noting that to ensure privacy preferences are maintained, users must make their Manage Preference choices on each specific site or app, on each individual browser or device used to access the services. Additionally, if cookies are cleared, users will need to renew these choices. For mobile app users, geolocation permissions can be adjusted in the mobile device settings.

By implementing these privacy measures, NBCUniversal continues to prioritize user privacy while striving to create a more personalized online experience.
