### Chiefs Maintain Undefeated Streak but Face Challenges Ahead
Despite their perfect 8-0 record, the Kansas City Chiefs are not dominating as one might expect. According to CBS Sports Research, their point differential of +56 is the lowest for any 8-0 team in NFL history. Patrick Mahomes has also struggled to find his usual elite form this season, throwing just 11 touchdowns against nine interceptions. His touchdown-to-interception ratio ranks him 28th out of 35 quarterbacks, and his passer rating of 90.1 places him 18th, both of which would be career lows for seasons where he has multiple starts.
The Chiefs' next challenge is a familiar one: the Denver Broncos. The Broncos handed Mahomes one of the largest defeats of his career last season with a 24-9 scoreline in Week 8. Historically, Mahomes has found difficulties against Denver, logging 11 career interceptions and being sacked 21 times—more than against any other team. His recent performances against the Broncos show a troubling trend, with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions in the last four meetings, coupled with 11 sacks.
Denver's formidable defense could further complicate matters for the Chiefs. The Broncos rank third in the NFL in scoring defense, allowing only 17.9 points per game, and their 31 sacks tie them for second place in the league. They also lead the NFL in blitz rate at 42.6%, a stark contrast to the mere 20% of blitzed dropbacks Mahomes has faced this season, which is the second-lowest in the league.
But the outlook isn't entirely bleak for Kansas City. After the Broncos concentrated on stopping the Baltimore Ravens' running game in Week 9, they were vulnerable through the air, allowing Lamar Jackson to complete 16 of 19 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns. This weakness could provide an opportunity for Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid to identify and exploit, potentially leading the Chiefs to score 30 points for only the second time this season.
As the Chiefs forge ahead, maintaining their undefeated status will depend on overcoming these defensive challenges and Mahomes' ability to return to his top form.
