Alexei Navalny's mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, has taken legal action in a Russian court to demand the release of her son's body, accusing Russian investigators of violating the law by withholding it. The court has scheduled a closed hearing on her claim for March 4, as reported by state news agency Tass. Navalnaya traveled to the Polar Wolf prison in the Yamalo-Nenets region, where Navalny passed away on Friday, but has been denied access to his body, leading to a public appeal to President Vladimir Putin. Nearly 77,000 Russians have signed a petition urging authorities to release Navalny's body to the family, while Navalny's widow, Yulia Navalnaya, has also called for its release, alleging a cover-up related to her husband's death. Since Navalny's passing, more than 400 Russian citizens have been arrested for commemorating him, with some even receiving military draft summonses upon their release from detention centers.
