Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz has announced that the team has reached an agreement with veteran forward Steven Stamkos on a four-year contract worth $32 million. The deal, with an average annual value of $8 million, solidifies the Predators' roster for the upcoming seasons.

Trotz expressed his excitement over adding Stamkos to the Predators' lineup, referring to him as a "serial winner" and a player who embodies the qualities of a leader and a proven champion. Stamkos' impressive track record, which includes two Stanley Cup victories as the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning, makes him a valuable asset on and off the ice.

Stamkos, 34, has enjoyed a stellar 16-season NHL career, earning numerous accolades along the way. In addition to his two Rocket Richard Trophy wins as the league's leading goal scorer, he was recognized with the Mark Messier Leadership Award for his exceptional leadership qualities during the 2022-23 season.

Known as one of the greatest scorers of his generation, Stamkos' 555 goals rank second among all NHL players since his rookie season in 2008-09, placing him in the top 30 on the league's all-time goal-scoring list. His accomplishments with the Lightning include holding the record for most goals and points, as well as being second in assists.

During the 2023-24 season, Stamkos showcased his scoring prowess once again by recording his seventh career 40-goal season, finishing third in points for the Lightning with 81 (40 goals and 41 assists) in 79 games. His contributions, including 19 power-play goals, helped propel Tampa Bay to their seventh consecutive Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance.

In the postseason, Stamkos continued to make an impact, notching six points in five games against the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. His experience and playoff success make him a valuable addition to the Predators' playoff ambitions.

Having been the first overall pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2008 NHL Draft, Stamkos has spent his entire career with the franchise until now. He has been selected to the NHL All-Star Game seven times and is one of only four active skaters with multiple 50-goal seasons.

Stamkos' leadership skills were evident as he captained the Lightning to back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons. In addition, he has amassed an impressive record in postseason play, amassing 101 points in 128 career games.

Internationally, Stamkos has represented Canada in various tournaments, winning gold at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, as well as earning a gold medal at the 2008 World Junior Championship and a silver medal in the 2009 World Championship.

The addition of Steven Stamkos to the Nashville Predators roster is expected to enhance the team's chances of success on both the offensive and leadership fronts. With his proven scoring ability and championship experience, he is poised to make a significant impact on the franchise's future.

Nashville Predators fans can look forward to witnessing Stamkos' contributions on the ice as he joins the team for the upcoming season.
