Nashville, Tenn. (May 21, 2024) - The Nashville Predators have added to their arsenal for the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft with the acquisition of two new picks. General Manager Barry Trotz announced today that the team has acquired a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In exchange for these picks, defenseman Ryan McDonagh and Edmonton's fourth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft will be heading to the Lightning. McDonagh, who served as an alternate captain, has been praised for his leadership qualities and dedication to winning during his time with the Predators.

With this latest trade, the Predators now possess a total of nine picks for the 2024 NHL Draft, reaffirming their commitment to developing a strong team for the future. These picks include one in the first round and seventh round, as well as three in the second round and two in the third and fourth rounds respectively.

Looking ahead to the 2025 NHL Draft, Nashville now boasts an impressive nine picks as well. They have acquired two picks in the first, second, and third rounds, while possessing one pick in the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds.

The increased number of draft picks allows the Predators to make strategic decisions during the offseason, providing them with more options to enhance their roster.
