Authorities in Baja California, Mexico have discovered a fourth body in a 50-foot deep well, where three missing surfers were previously found dead. The victims have been tentatively identified as Georgia resident Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, and Australian brothers Callum, 33, and Jake Robinson, 30. The bodies were recovered at a popular surf spot called La Bocana, located approximately 130 miles south of San Diego.
Last Saturday, the three surfers were reported missing after they failed to arrive at their scheduled Airbnb in the port city of Ensenada. Their social media posts documenting their surfing vacation abruptly stopped, raising concerns among their friends and family.
Mexican authorities took three individuals into custody in connection with the case. Jesús Gerardo Garcia Cota, known as El Kekas, his partner Ari Gisel García Cota, and Jesus' brother, Cristian Alejandro Garcia, were all arrested. It was revealed that the suspects had methamphetamine and other illegal drugs in their possession at the time of their arrest.
Furthermore, one of the suspects, Ari Gisel Garcia Cota, 23, was allegedly found with one of the surfer's phones, adding another layer to the developing investigation. The discovery raises questions about a possible connection between the suspects and the disappearance and subsequent deaths of the surfers.
In addition to the unsettling developments surrounding the missing surfers, authorities have also confirmed that the fourth body found in the well is that of a ranch owner who had been reported missing two weeks ago. He was the owner of the property where the bodies were discovered.
While Mexican officials have yet to officially confirm the identities of the three surfers, two news outlets, Border Report and FOX 5 San Diego, citing a source within the Baja California Attorney General's office, have reported that the bodies do indeed belong to the missing individuals.
The local community and friends and family of the victims are distraught over the tragic turn of events. Many are anxiously awaiting further updates from the authorities as they work to uncover the truth behind the surfers' disappearance and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
As the investigation continues, investigators will focus on determining the exact causes of death, gathering additional evidence, and establishing a clear timeline of events surrounding the disappearance and discovery of the bodies. The surf community mourns the loss of these talented individuals, and their loved ones seek justice and closure in the face of this devastating tragedy.
