In a recent lawsuit filed against music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, music producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones has escalated his allegations, claiming that Combs and his son were involved in a shooting incident that took place at an L.A. recording studio in 2022. The lawsuit also accuses Combs of sexual harassment, drugging, and threats towards Jones during their time spent together.
The initial complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on February 26, provides detailed accounts of the shooting at a "writers and producers camp" held at Chalice Recording Studio in Los Angeles on September 12, 2022. Jones alleges that Combs, his son Justin, and Justin's friend, identified as "G," were present at the scene.
However, there are conflicting accounts between the details in Jones' complaint and the information provided by the Los Angeles Police Department and Combs' attorney, Shawn Holley. The suit also includes allegations that Combs is part of a "RICO enterprise" and involved in a "sex trafficking venture," referring to violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
This lawsuit adds to the legal troubles Combs has faced recently, including multiple allegations of sexual assault. The original complaint recounts Jones' claim that after a heated conversation in a nearby bathroom, gunshots were heard. When Combs and his son emerged from the bathroom, Jones allegedly found "G" injured on the restroom floor.
According to Jones, Combs instructed him to falsely inform the police that the shooting occurred outside the studio as a result of a drive-by assailant. Jones contends that the shooting actually took place inside Chalice Recording Studio. The Los Angeles Fire Department has not provided further information on the incident.
Chalice Recording Studio has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the allegations. The amended complaint includes a message allegedly sent by the studio stating that the shooting occurred half a block away as a result of a robbery, which is supported by police reports. Combs' attorney, Holley, agrees with this sequence of events.
The amended filing also includes screenshots implying that the studio restroom was stained with blood after the shooting, allegedly caused by either Combs or his son. The nature of the liquid depicted in the screenshots remains unidentified. Jones claims to possess clothing worn on the day of the shooting, which he believes may contain the victim's DNA.
Additionally, the filing includes a photograph supposedly showing Combs at the studio on the night in question. It asserts that Combs and his son immediately left the studio after police arrived, while Holley disputes this account, stating that they were in a different part of the studio when the victim sought refuge in the bathroom.
The LAPD has not confirmed whether Combs and his son were interviewed regarding the incident. Captain Kelly Muniz declined to comment on the pending civil suit and allegations. Justin Combs, Combs' son, denied the original complaint's accusations, calling them "absurd" and "lies," and warning of legal consequences for defamatory statements made against the Combs family.
According to the Los Angeles police, the shooting incident on September 12, 2022, occurred on the same block as Chalice Recording Studio. The victim reported being approached near his vehicle, which was parked on the street, and being shot after a struggle. Three individuals were later arrested and implicated in a series of robberies, including the September 12 shooting.
As the legal battle unfolds, the allegations against Combs continue to send shockwaves through the music industry. With ongoing investigations and conflicting accounts, the truth behind these claims remains to be seen.
