Multi-Vehicle Crash on Maine Turnpike in Wells Results in Serious Injuries; Road Reopens

In an unfortunate incident on Friday morning, a multi-vehicle crash occurred on the Maine Turnpike southbound in Wells, resulting in serious injuries. The crash took place at around 8:40 a.m. and caused the closure of the Maine Turnpike southbound stretch near mile 20.

Maine State Police and other officials swiftly responded to the scene, bringing the situation under control. A Life Flight helicopter was called in and landed at the crash site to transport injured individuals to medical facilities for urgent treatment.

Due to the severity of the crash, traffic was diverted off the Maine Turnpike at Exit 25 in Kennebunk for several hours. However, as of 12:45 p.m., the Maine Turnpike southbound in Wells has been reopened, allowing vehicles to pass through the previously closed section.

Despite the reopening of the road, some residual delays are expected as traffic gradually returns to normal. Authorities are actively working to clear any traffic congestion caused by the incident, and it is anticipated that the delays will dissipate shortly.

Maine State Police have not provided further details regarding the nature of the crash or the number of vehicles involved. It is advised to monitor local news sources for any updates on this ongoing situation.
