In a recent episode of the "WTF with Marc Maron" podcast, iconic '80s actress Molly Ringwald discussed her encounters with predatory individuals during her rise to fame in Hollywood. The "Breakfast Club" star, now 56, revealed that despite her shyness as a young actress, she was not immune to being taken advantage of in the entertainment industry.

During the podcast interview, host Marc Maron acknowledged Ringwald's cautious approach to the celebrity scene, reflecting on the potential dangers she may have faced. Ringwald responded by stating, "Oh, I was taken advantage of." She further expressed that being a young actress in Hollywood almost always involves the presence of predators, emphasizing her gratitude for not experiencing the horrific ordeals faced by others like Harvey Weinstein.

Ringwald did not provide specific details about the individuals who had taken advantage of her or the nature of the incidents. However, she has previously spoken out about her experiences in an essay for the New Yorker in 2016, titled "All the Other Harvey Weinsteins." In the essay, she recounted instances of harassment, including a crew member making inappropriate advances when she was thirteen, and a married film director forcibly kissing her on set when she was fourteen.

The actress also acknowledged the protective role her parents played in her life, despite these unfortunate encounters. Ringwald expressed her concerns about her 20-year-old daughter, Mathilda Ereni Gianopoulos, who is aspiring to enter the entertainment industry. She noted the difficulties faced by young individuals in Hollywood and her attempts to dissuade her daughter from pursuing a career in acting.

Reflecting on her own experiences, Ringwald highlighted her ability to navigate through questionable situations and protect herself. Although she admitted to facing harrowing circumstances, she emphasized her incredible survival instinct and personal strength in finding ways to safeguard herself.

Molly Ringwald's revelation sheds light on the pervasive issue of predatory behavior within the entertainment industry. As the #MeToo movement continues to expose the dark realities of Hollywood, public figures like Ringwald are using their platforms to bring attention to the prevalence of such misconduct, encouraging change and accountability within the industry.
