**Vikings Secure Narrow Win Against Jaguars, Improve to 7-2**
In a nail-biting finish, the Minnesota Vikings managed to edge past the Jacksonville Jaguars with a 12-7 victory on Sunday. This win brings the Vikings’ record to an impressive 7-2, largely thanks to the stellar performance of their new kicker, Parker Romo, who contributed four field goals.
Despite dominating possession and most of the offensive stats, the Vikings struggled in the red zone, going 0-for-5. Quarterback Sam Darnold’s three interceptions nearly cost them the game, but the defense rose to the occasion with three crucial takeaways in the second half, neutralizing Darnold’s errors and sealing the win.
The game had its dramatic moments. In the Jaguars' final possession, linebacker Blake Cashman’s sack appeared to end the game, but a facemask penalty extended the drive. Fortunately for the Vikings, Jaguars quarterback Mac Jones overthrew a deep pass, resulting in an interception by safety Camryn Bynum. Bynum’s celebration, inspired by an Australian Olympic breakdancer, added a rare entertaining moment to a tense matchup.
The Vikings’ offense faced additional challenges as they were without running back Aaron Jones, who was carted off due to a chest injury in the third quarter. Cam Akers stepped in and contributed 14 yards on three carries, but it was not enough for a touchdown, leading to another field goal by Romo.
On defense, Byron Murphy Jr. made his fourth interception of the season, yet even this solid defensive play could not immediately secure the win. The Vikings had to punt late in the fourth quarter after a sack pushed them out of field goal range.
In contrast, the struggling Jaguars, now with a 2-8 record, could not capitalize on their opportunities. A botched exchange involving Mac Jones led to a fumble recovered by Vikings’ defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, setting up a late-game field goal.
The Vikings next face the challenge of maintaining their form while addressing their red-zone inefficiencies and turnover issues, aspects that nearly jeopardized their win against a two-win team.
