In a courtroom in Washington, D.C., Stefanie Lambert, a Michigan attorney who had previously sued to overturn former President Donald Trump's 2020 election loss in the state, was released on Tuesday after promising to return to Michigan and turn herself in on an outstanding warrant. Lambert was represented by her attorney Kevin Irving, who assured the court that she was "willing and ready" to face the warrant issued by a judge earlier this month.
Lambert is facing serious charges of improperly accessing voting equipment in a search for evidence of a conspiracy to steal the 2020 election from Trump. The bench warrant was issued by a Michigan judge after Lambert missed a hearing in the case on March 7.
The arrest of Stefanie Lambert took place Monday evening, following her appearance in federal court in Washington in connection with another legal matter regarding election conspiracy theories. Lambert had been defending her leaking of internal emails from Dominion Voting Systems, which she obtained while acting as an attorney for an election denier accused of defaming the company.
U.S. Marshals apprehended Lambert on the Michigan warrant once the Dominion hearing concluded. Prosecutors argued for her continued detention, stating that Michigan authorities were prepared to pick her up. However, District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Heide Herrmann decided to release Lambert on an unsecured $10,000 bond instead.
During her court appearance, Lambert stood silently, dressed in a black suit with her hands cuffed in front of her. Her attorney explained that she believed her Michigan case had been rescheduled and that she had intended to appear in court next week.
Irving confirmed that Lambert plans to leave Washington immediately and drive back to Michigan to face the charges. Lambert's release on bond allows her some freedom while she awaits further legal proceedings in the case against her.
The next steps in Lambert's legal journey will undoubtedly shed more light on the allegations brought against her and the ongoing investigations into the 2020 election.
