**Michael J. Fox Joins Apple TV+ Comedy Series “Shrinking” for Exciting Guest Role**
Beloved actor Michael J. Fox is set to make a notable return to acting. The five-time Emmy winner will be guest-starring in the highly anticipated third season of Apple TV+'s acclaimed comedy series "Shrinking". Created by Jason Segel, Bill Lawrence, and Brett Goldstein, "Shrinking" has garnered significant attention for its unique storyline and stellar cast, which includes Segel and veteran actor Harrison Ford.
Although details about Fox's role are being kept under wraps, it is speculated to be connected to the storyline of Ford's therapist character, Paul Rhoades. Intriguingly, the character of Paul Rhoades was revealed to have Parkinson's disease at the end of Season 1, a condition that Fox has publicly battled for over three decades.
Fox's collaboration with Bill Lawrence marks a nostalgic reunion. The actor famously starred in Lawrence's first project as a creator, "Spin City," for four seasons before stepping away due to worsening symptoms of Parkinson's. "Spin City" earned Fox his fifth Emmy award, adding to the four he previously won for "Family Ties."
Following "Spin City," Fox remained active in television, taking roles in various acclaimed series including "The Michael J. Fox Show," "The Good Wife," "Scrubs," "Rescue Me," "Boston Legal," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and "Designated Survivor." His performances in these shows secured him eight additional Emmy nominations. His upcoming role in "Shrinking" will be his first acting endeavor since reprising his role in "The Good Fight" in 2020.
This new role also signals Fox's return to working with Apple, following the success of their collaborative documentary, "STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie," which received critical acclaim.
"Shrinking" follows the story of grieving therapist Jimmy, played by Segel, who begins to deviate from customary therapy norms by openly sharing his thoughts with his clients, leading to drastic changes in their lives and his own. The show also stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.
Season 3 of "Shrinking" will also feature other notable guest stars, including Jeff Daniels, who will portray Jimmy's father, Sherry Cola, and Isabella Gomez.
The Emmy and SAG Award-nominated series is a production of Warner Bros. Television and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. The executive producers for the upcoming season include Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, and Brian Gallivan, with Ashley Nicole Black and Bill Posley joining the team.
Aside from his acting career, Fox is known for his contributions to Parkinson's research through the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which he established in 2000. The foundation has raised over $2.5 billion to date, significantly advancing the quest for better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease. Fox's commendable work has been recognized with several prestigious honors, including an honorary Academy Award and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
