In a heartfelt interview, Keith Morrison, the stepfather of the late Friends actor Matthew Perry, recently shared his struggle in coming to terms with Perry's untimely passing. Almost five months after Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine, the Dateline correspondent spoke about the profound impact it has had on him and Perry's mother, Suzanne Perry.

Speaking on Hoda Kotb's podcast Making Space, Morrison expressed that the pain of losing Perry remains ever-present and doesn't fade away. "It's as other people have told me hundreds of times. It doesn't go away yet," he shared. "It's with you every day. It's with you all the time."

Morrison revealed that Perry's death has been particularly difficult for his wife, Suzanne. He described the ongoing anguish, saying, "There's some new aspect of it that assaults your brain, and it's not easy, especially for his mom. I don't think I'm giving away too much if I say that toward the end of his life, they were closer than I had seen them for decades, and texting each other constantly and him sharing things with her that most middle-aged men don't share with their mothers."

Prior to his passing, Perry appeared to be content, as noted by his friend Jennifer Aniston and others close to him. Morrison echoed this sentiment, sharing, "He said so, and he hadn't said that for a long time... It's a source of comfort, but also, he didn't get to have his third act, and that's not fair."

Morrison reiterated Perry's awareness of his own struggles, stating, "As he said himself, 'If I suddenly died, people would be shocked, but not too many people would be surprised.' And he was right."

Though Morrison acknowledged he could never replace Perry's biological father, he emphasized that he had always been there for him, providing support and love. However, the loss of Perry still lingers, with Morrison revealing, "I can still feel the echo of it everywhere around here."

As fans continue to mourn the loss of the beloved actor, Morrison's candid interview sheds light on the profound impact of Perry's passing on his loved ones. It serves as a reminder to cherish and support those who may be struggling with their own battles, both visible and unseen.
