Germany legend Lothar Matthäus has voiced his support for Hansi Flick's upcoming appointment as the new manager of FC Barcelona. Flick, who recently left his role as Germany boss, is expected to take over at the Catalan club next week following the departure of Xavi.

Matthäus expressed his happiness for Flick, highlighting that the new Barcelona manager had been in talks with the club for a while. "Hansi was patient and can now go to an absolute world-class club," Matthäus told Bild. The former Bayern Munich boss is seen as a great fit for Barcelona, known for his offensive and attractive style of play.

Pointing to the existing connections, Matthäus emphasized the presence of three players - Marc-André ter Stegen, Ilkay Gündogan, and Robert Lewandowski - who Flick can easily relate to. "He made Ilkay Gündogan captain at the DFB, which speaks for their special relationship," added the German legend.

Despite the financial constraints Barcelona is facing, Matthäus believes Flick can build a remarkable team. "Barcelona has very talented players and always finds ways to make transfers, despite the difficult economic situation. In addition, there are many gems in the club that Hansi, who is known as a talent promoter, will polish," he explained.

Recalling the golden era under Pep Guardiola, Matthäus believes Flick can bring back the spectacle and great football that Barcelona is renowned for. "Barcelona stood for spectacle and great football under Guardiola. Hansi can bring that magic back," he stated.

Flick's desire to manage Barcelona has been well-known, and he will finally get the chance to do so next season. With his proven track record at Bayern Munich and his previous success with the German national team, many are optimistic about Flick's tenure at the Camp Nou.

As the football world eagerly awaits the official announcement, all eyes will be on Flick as he takes on the challenge of reviving Barcelona's glory and returning them to their former dominance on the European stage.
